I really like Allen's restaurant and everything about the service and ambience and the food is great. Better quality than other Chinese restaurants in Powhatan. However, my favorite dish has always been the Honey Crispy Twin. It has sweet honey chicken and shrimp. At $15.95, this is a treat for me but the last two times the last time I ordered, no shrimp and this time, 1 piece of shrimp. Very disappointing.
Our first visit was very good: we'll definitely return. Some of my favorites are, or seem to be, missing -- vegetables chow fun, honey-walnut prawns, but as an almost native San Franciscan my expectations are probably a bit too high. I did discuss the absence of honey-walnut prawns - with the manager (owner?). Allen's service was rapid and enthusiastically given. Dishes were hot and quickly served. Importantly, we were given ample time to finish the first course of dumplings before the main dishes arrived . The dining room is extraordinarily clean. I feel safe and confident eating there. I think Allen's could be a bit moe ambitious in the variety of their dishes-- for example one dish with salmon would enhance the menu. (I saw mostly shrimp and one dish with scallops. ). The servers were wonderfully attentive and courteous. I look forward to our next visit.

We have not eaten inside this place yet. BUT we have ordered take out from them several times, and we love the food here. Fresh and hot, the beef & broccoli, sesame chicken, combo rice , egg rolls and egg drop are delicious!
Food was great! Asked for one extra spicy and one not spicy and both were perfectly spiced. This was a ladies dinner at my besties fav in Powhatan and I was pleasantly surprised. Service was fast and friendly. Instead of the friend wontons some Chinese restaurants serve they give you some pickled cucumbers (MORE RED PEPPERS ALLENS) they were delish. The ambiance is super casual and you can hang out without feeling like you're loitering. It was really good!
Great menu, easy to order online, food is delicious. Especially the egg rolls. Cannot more highly recommend Allen's.
This has been our go goto for Chinese food in Powhatan for the last ten years. The food is consistently good and never disappoints. We have tried a couple other places but keep ending back here as it is superior. Recommended!
